There is a virtue so highly exalted in Scripture you'd have to be, literally, blind to miss it. Yet the culture of kings which ruled the Middle East in ancient times rarely experienced it; the Greeks ridiculed it in their philosophy; and post-modern man has tossed it on the trash heap of His-Story.
Yet it just won't go away. What is this you ask? This elusive animal Jesus held up before His hearers?
Humility. This teaching is the story of a king who should've had it, but didn't. And it destroyed him. Jesus told us this, over and over again, "He who exalts himself will be humbled; and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
