The Glory of the Golden Rule

Our King has commanded us, to "do to others what you would have them do to you," to "treat them exactly like you want to be treated." This is more than a trite little Sunday School saying from the Son of God, this is powerful, proactive, and relational to the core.

Every successful society in the history of humanity has embraced something akin to the negative side of this coin: Don't do to others what you don't want done to you. In all of His brilliance as a human teacher, Jesus is the first to take this ethical maxim and restate it in the affirmative, to teach us that we should seek out, look for, think ahead about what we would want done for us in certain situations, then seize the initiative and do it for others! What a magnificent way to live, love, and relate.

...Consider what the world might look like if every Follower of Jesus took this to heart, embraced it in their lives, and lived it in their actions. Another way of Life is possible, indeed, a "kingdom not of this world."
