In the last word we have from a true prophet of Israel until John the Baptist comes "in the spirit and power of Elijah" as a forerunner of the Messiah, the Lord asks His People, "If I am a Father, where is the honor due Me? If I am a Master, where is the respect due Me?," 1:6. He goes on to remind them, as they bring into His Temple "blind, crippled, and diseased animals" to sacrifice, that He is "a Great King" and His "name is to be feared among the nations," v.v. 13-14.
So, here's the queston we posed Sunday morning: Where is the Lord in our list of loves? The early Church practiced what was known in Latin as Ordos Amour, the 'right ordering of the loves' ...everything in its proper place. The only way to have genuine clarity on this is to be brutally, ruthlessly honest. Where is Jesus in my scale of values?
What do you think about above all else... where does your heart wander when you loosen the reins? Where or what or to whom do you give your Time, attention, affection, etc.? What consumes your soul? Worship is when you give your heart away to something or someone hoping to get a return of Life. And the worship of anything other than God is idolatry / addiction.
Are we willing to admit it, face it, and accept the Holy Spirit's radical re-ordering of our lives and priorities? If not, why not?
